A parcel of Grenache was planted at the peak of the Calcareous Estate in 2014. Farmed in the traditional head trained pruning style, the Grenache was bordered by rows of Mourvedre and Syrah. The grapes are picked together and co-fermented creating a wine that is 90% Grenache with 5% each of Syrah and Mourvedre. The wine was aged for 20 months in a combination of large concrete egg shaded tanks and 500L new French Oak puncheons. This is our first ever bottling of wine produced from exclusively that site as well as aged in concrete. These factors and the resulting wine itself is what deemed this a Reserve tier wine.
