2019 Vin Gris Cuvee
Presents a beautiful rose gold in the glass ad emits immense perfume of watermelon, honeydew and hints of citrus zest. Exceptionally clean on the palate with flavors of white cherry, peaches and lemonade. A complete joy to drink, this wine is a definite indicator of immense quality in the 2018 vintage and should be consumed as young as possible as freshness and purity of fruit is rarely expressed so clearly.
Our 2018 Vin Gris is comprised of 70% Estate Zinfandel from Kate's Vineyard and 30% Estate Grenache from our Calcareous Estate. The 2018 Vintage is shaping up to be a landmark year for Paso Robles. The vineyards produced perfect fruit as conditions for summer and fall were ideal in almost all regards. These are the vintages winemakers dream of.
The fruit was handpicked and pressed whole cluster the morning it was harvested. The juice was cold settled for 24 hours and racked to a mix of stainless and neutral oak barrels for fermentation. Kept cool in a temperature controlled room, the fermentation was drawn out for 13 days and malo-lactic fermentation was halted to maintain as much freshness as possible. The lees were stirred in the barrels to add some yeasty richness to balance the bright acidity. The wine was rough filtered right before bottling and released 3 weeks later.
